Why it matters

Consumers make purchasing decisions based on what they see and read. That is why commercial texts and visuals on packaging are just as sensitive as ingredient information. They must be accurate, substantiated, and legally compliant, without misleading or exaggerating. Especially for food products, supplements, and functional products, the line between a claim and a suggestion is becoming increasingly strict. That is exactly why proper validation is essential.

What lies beneath

Permitted claims, visuals, and expressions are determined by:

  • the nature of the product
  • the ingredients used
  • the target audience
  • and applicable European and national legislation

Without validation, you run risks. With the right support, you develop packaging that is both convincing and compliant.

Leadership means knowing what is allowed and what is not

Leadership in commercial labelling means:

  • discussing wording early in the development process
  • close collaboration between marketing, legal, and QA
  • and staying informed about new regulations and consumer trends

This ensures that every expression strengthens your brand instead of creating risk.

Three levels of development

Compliance | Assessment of commercial texts and visuals

The organisation ensures that commercial claims and visuals on labels are reviewed against EU and national legislation.

Focus: are we allowed to say and show what we communicate?

In practice:

  • consultancy for new labels or rebranding
  • assessment based on claims regulations such as 1924/2006

Compliance+ | (to be developed)

Strategic | Advisory in the concept and design phase

The organisation involves QA and regulatory expertise early in packaging development. Instead of correcting afterwards, discussions take place upfront about what is possible, both legally and strategically.

In practice:

  • review during the design phase
  • claim checklists for development teams
  • strategic advice for market expansion with client-specific requirements
