Audit

What lies beneath
An audit only creates value when:
- It is structured and planned
- It aligns with risks and processes
- Findings lead to action and improvement
- Insights are shared with the teams that need to act on them
From internal audits to supplier audits, from verification to dialogue, audits are a key quality tool that goes beyond ticking boxes.
Leadership means turning audit insights into action
Leadership in auditing means:
- Looking beyond individual findings to recognise patterns
- Helping people understand the purpose behind requirements
- Ensuring that improvement actions are followed up consistently
Audits are not a threat. They are an opportunity to improve together.
Three levels of development
Compliance | Annual internal audits
Conducting planned internal audits based on standard requirements such as BRCGS, IFS, or FSSC 22000. Checklists, audit plans, and formats are in place. Deviations are recorded and followed up with corrective actions.
Compliance+ | Supplier audits and programmes
Extending audits across the supply chain. A supplier audit programme is implemented, aligned with product types, certifications, and performance. Internal audits focus on specific topics such as allergen management, label verification, or HACCP.
Strategic | Risk based audit strategy
Developing a fully risk based audit approach. Audit frequency and scope are aligned with:
- Process criticality
- Incident history
- Rate of change
- Impact on food safety and brand reputation
Audit outcomes support management decisions, sustainability performance, and innovation.
What it delivers
A well designed audit programme provides:
- Better insight into process performance and risks
- Higher audit quality and more actionable results
- A stronger quality culture and improvement mindset
- Greater control over suppliers and supply chain responsibilities
- Strategic insights for decision makers and development teams
An audit is not just control. It is an opportunity to grow.
